Zisha Pottery Square Teacup and Saucer

Zisha (purple sand/clay) pottery is well known for its natural appearance and beauty. An unglazed purple sand clay pottery captures the colour, fragrance and flavour of the tea. 

This square teacup is coated on the inside to create a contrast in colour. All four corners are rounded to provide a more comfortable experience when enjoying the tea. This traditional teacup is shaped tapering down to the bottom. 

The purple clay (Zisha) comes from deep in the mountains near the city of Yixing, Jiangsu, China. This particular purple sand clay has a very porous quality after fired/baked and that’s why it is an excellent material to make teapots, teacups and other tea serving pieces from.
